Position: Merchandiser (Deli Outlet Operation)

Description: Food merchandisers develop and implement merchandising plans to assist in the marketing and promotion of foods at their client locations. They are responsible for promoting and marketing food products by means of store displays. Food merchandisers may use visual techniques to attract customers. They also assist with the billing of food products and client food orders. Food merchandisers are also the primary contact between their employers and store clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome customers as they approach the deli counter.
  • Greet all visitors and customers in a professional mannertional sales plans; supervising regional sales Team.
  • Maintain courteous and friendly attitude toward customers.
  • Prepare deli food items according to customers’ instructions.
  • Upheld shelves and maintain cases filled at all times.
  • Control freshness by rotating and coding all products and remove out-of-code merchandise.
  • Tag all products legibly in line with price book.
  • Maintain fresh items and weekly specials.
  • Promote latest items and weekly specials.
  • Clean and sanitized the entire work area.
  • Ask for specific orders and punch in the orders in the database or cash register.
  • Perform cutting and slicing activities.
  • Package food as per customers’ instructions.
  • Prepare food platters and plates for large deli orders.
  • Package and weigh pre-packaged items for the customers.
  • Check received deli products for accuracy and freshness.
  • Maintain inventory of stored deli items.
  • Open cartons and display items appropriately.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of deli recipes and pre-packaged food items.
  • Maintain back-stock areas appropriately.
  • Ensure that quality standards are being met.
  • Clean and maintain counters and work areas.

Requirements:

  • Potential food merchandisers must possess proficient verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills are preferred.
  • Food merchandisers must also be highly organized and detail-orientated.
  • Knowledge in computers and software programs are needed.
  • A food merchandiser requires a few core skills that are essential for success in this role, some of which include negotiation, communication etc.
